Beyond Just the Classroom
Explore– travel to or in a place in order to discover what it is like or what is there.
Explore is a unique program because you are not restricted to a classroom; neither is your learning. Being in constant community, you are continually learning. The implications of the classroom are able to be lived out through a wilderness setting. This presents an awesome opportunity to step out of your comfort zone and into the adventure of Explore.
Explore uses adventure as a great tool for teaching and the aspect of community is always present. Another large part of the program is being in and under leadership. Throughout the year students have the opportunity to practice servant leadership within different events. Students begin leading and following within their teams starting in the 6 day backpacking trip, through skill rotations and specialization, all building up to the practicum at the end of the term. During the practicum students have the opportunity to run a camp for an incoming group. The integration of the bible into daily life and the opportunity to learn more about God’s authority and yourself are very valuable pieces of Explore.
Explore combines the adventure style learning with the classroom. In the second term students are enrolled in bible and theology classes. This is a great opportunity for the solid grounding of your faith. The professors prompt difficult questions and provide great insight allowing students to personalize their faith by researching and discovering what they truly believe. Classes are very rooted in scripture and the textbooks are great tools for growing your faith.
Explore brings the classroom and adventure learning together. It is a great opportunity to dig into scripture while learning about yourself and the Lord. The opportunity for growth is continually present.
